Face Your Reps Mandate, Anambra South Stakeholders Tell Agbodike , Endorse Egwuonwu
Stakeholders in Anambra South Senatorial District have advised Mr Pascal Agbodike, member representing Ihiala Federal Constituency to perish the dream of contesting for the Senate but concentrate on delivering on his legislative mandate to his constituent.
The political stakeholders gave the uece if advise in Amichi, Nnewi South during the declaration of Chief Akai Egwuonwu to contest in the bye election to fill the vacant Anambra South Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly on Sunday.
Egwuonwu is a Life Patron of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), a consummate businessman and President of Stine Mill Industries and Zara Group of companies.
The position became vacant following the death of the incumbent, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah in July.
The stakeholders mainly from the ruling APGA said it was not only a greedy idea but an insult to their sensibilities that somebody was just about 18 months in Federal House if Senate would retain his position and attempt to usurp a position meant for the old Nnewi political bloc.
They reminded him to concentrate on sponsoring bills and motions and influencing legislation that would benefit the people of Ihiala which he had not been able to do instead of deluding himself with a senate seat like a child whose kernel was cracked by a benevolent spirit.
The group said equity, fairness, natural justice and political equation demanded that Nnewi South LGA be supported to produce the next Senator while unanimously endorsing the aspiration of Egwuonwu.
“If you have the interest of your constituents at heart and you know there is no election for the seat you are presently occupying, why will you want to jeopardise the chances of others.
That is the height of selfishness, you have not even consolidated in the House of Reps, you are eyeing the Senate.
“We think you should finish your tenure and try to go back as a ranking member.
“In the interest of progress and justice in Anambra South Senatorial District, let us support Chief Akai Egwuonwu, (Ijele Anambra) to go to the Senate.
The stakeholders called on the entire people of Anambra South Senatorial District to support Nnewi South and Egwuonwu particularly for the Senatorial slott his time around.
