Hoodlums Shot Catholic Priest Dead In Anambra
Rev. Fr. Chukwujekwu Okonkwo, a priest in the Catholic Diocese in Nnewi has allegedly been shot dead.
This was contained in the Statement released by the diocese on Friday.
The document signed by Rev. Fr Raphael Ezeogu, Chancellor of Catholic Diocese of Nnewi said Fr Okonkwo was shot dead on Dec. 26 by unidentified assailants.
It said the incident took place at Ihiala, along Onitsha-Owerri Expressway at about 7pm and 8pm.
“With sorrow, but with stronger faith, that our dear Rev. Fr. Tobias Chukwujekwu Okonkwo
“Till his death, Fr. Tobias is pharmacist, Manager of the respective Schools of Nursing, Midwifery, and Medical Laboratory at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Ihiala.
“We solicit your prayers and Holy Masses for his eternal joy. May Fr. Tobias rejoices in Paradise for ever Amen.
“May God console the bereaved.
Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course,” it said.
According to the Statement, Fr Okonkwo, a native of Ekwulumili in Nnewi South Local Government Area, was born on Aug. 11 1984, ordained a priest on July 11 2015.
