Soludo Inaugurates 400 Solar Street Lights,, Urges Partnership For Development

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state, has inaugurated a 400-unit solar street lights in Ndiowu community, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.

The streets lights which is to serve Agbata, Igweakpu, Aboruhuana villages were installed by a philanthropist, Mr Chibueze Eugene-Ike

Speaking at the event Eugene-Ike who had intervened in other projects in the community including payment of electricity bills and road rehabilitation of roads said it was a way of supporting efforts of the government.

He appealed to Soludo to construct long neglected link road from Oko community to Agbata road, Ndiowu and Ufuma community to ease the movement of goods and people from in and out of community.

According to him, the agrarian Ndiowu community, particularly the three villages of the town have suffered untold hardship especially during the rainy seasons.

“It is difficult to move produce to markets in the neighbouring communities,” he said

Speaking at the event, Soludo called for increased Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) because the government alone would not be able to meet the developmental challenges in the state.

Soludo assured the community of state government willingness to heed their demand for the road project and asked Eugene-Ike to liaiase with the state Commissioner for Works.

He said that 95 per cent of road constructions in the state would require the support of private individuals and communities to move with speed.

He said his administration had so far done about 700 kilometres of road projects across the 21 local government areas, some of which have been asphalted.

According to him, many road projects built by private individuals have been inaugurated recently in many communities of the state.

“Yes, fair enough, you said you

have discussed with the Commissioner for Works, we will know what you are doing about in partnership with the state government.

“We appreciate this public-private partnership because the government alone cannot meet our model developmental challenges needed in the state,” he said.

“We are, therefore, calling for all Anambra citizens’ efforts, we are noted for our communal development traits before the coming of the White men

to Igboland,* he said.
