Anambra Guber Aspirant Bemoans Death Of Kidnapped Lawmaker
Mr John Nwosu, a Labour Party governorship aspirant in Anambra has expressed shock over the murder of Justice Azuka, a member of Anambra House of Assembly representing Onitsha North 1 constituency.
Azuka, a member of the Labour Party, was kidnapped on Dec. 24 last year in Onitsha on his way home for Christmas and had remained missing.
The Police Command in Anambra confirmed the discovery of his decomposing body near the second Niger bridge on Wednesday night.
Nwosu in a message of condolence released in Awka on Thursday said it was regrettable that another serving member of the State Assembly had been lost to kidnappers in the life of the present administration.
He said the ugly developments no longer inspire trust or confidence in the general public on the capacity of the government to protect its citizens.
The Tech expert wondered what the fate of ordinary citizens would be if elected officers could fall prey to kidnappers in such a manner.
“I am shocked beyond words on the reported discovery of the remains of Hon. Justice Azuka, the Labour Party member representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency.
“I had repeatedly called on the Anambra Government not to spare any resources in securing his release,” he said.
Nwosu called for exposing and prosecution of the culprits according to the law of the land ensure that justice was served.
According to him, if it is true, as reported that his abductors and killers have been arrested, then the full weight of Justice must be brought to bear on the culprits.
“There must be Justice for Justice Azuka!
On behalf of myself and my Campaign Organization, I pray for the peaceful repose of the deceased and fortitude for his family to bear this irreparable and ver
y painful loss,” he said.
