Boy, 10 Shoots Police Inspector Father Dead, Wounds Sibling In Anambra

Insp. Amechi Okolie, a Policeman serving in Awka, the Anambra capital has been shot dead by his own.

Okolie died Sunday evening, when his 10 year old son allegedly expended the bullet accidentally.

The child pulled the trigger of the AK 47 rifle assigned to the father and hit him on the back and his second child on the hand.

SP Ikenga Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra said the Command was mourning over the unfortunate incident

Ikenga said the Inspector was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty at the hospital, while the second victim was said to be responding to treatment.

“Meanwhile, the AK47 rifle has been recovered while the remains of the deceased have been deposited in the morgue.

“The Command, while wishing the second victim a quick recovery, condoles with the family and friends of the late Inspector.

“Further developments would be communicated accordingly,” he said.
