Tiger Street Football Sets Anambra Agog As Competition Enters Final Stage
Awka, the town of Anambra is full of excitement as Tiger 5-Aside Street Football cruises into the semi final stage.
Fans at the COD Arena Awka, the venue of the preliminary and quarter final stage of the competition were thrilled with scintillating football skills, good music and local delicacy courtesy of Tiger Beer.
In the games decided on Sunday, Sunday Sparks FC defeated Young StarsFC 3-0 while Peace Warriors FC beat Star Boys FC 2-1 to advance.
Peace Dominion FC had a 1-0 victory against Super Strikers FC while Peace Ambassadors FC beat Mgbakwu Pillars FC 2-1 to make it to the final four.
The encounter produced four teams for the semi final stage of the cage football fiesta.
16 teams across Anambra entered for the competition which had N5 million as the ultimate prize.
Ejiro Omonode of Masters Sports International, the Consultant to the tournament said finals of the competition had been scheduled for Oct. 25
Omonode said Sunday Sparks will play against Peace Warriors while Peace Dominion will square up against Peace Ambassadors in the second semi final game scheduled to hold at New Berries Park.
He said Tiger Street Football was about taking the beautiful game to the grassroots adding that it targeted critical stakeholders in grassroots such as business executives, markets and firms.
“Tiger brand is unleashing the immense potential and energy of the growing youth population from the age of 18 and above.
“Tiger Street Football is targeted at those players who have not access to big clubs but those who play in back streets but have potential to rise to the top
“So far, it has been great having it in Awka and finals promises to be massive and excellent with football, entertainment and culture,” he said.
