Anambra Poll: Obidients Vow To Deliver LP Candidate, Moghalu
Dr Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of Obidient Movement says members of the political movement are ready to vote for Chief George Moghalu, the candidate of Labour Party and defend their votes in the Nov. 8 governorship election in Anambra.
Tanko said this at a news conference held at Moghalu’s campaign office, in Awka.
The national coordinator who was joined by leaders of Obidients and Labour Party in Southeast said the movement was putting in place mechanisms to ensure that rigging, vote-buying and other malpractices did not take place during the election.
He said the group had put in place a robust strategy known as Go and Register and Make Election Rigging Difficult (GoMERD) with a view to ensure the process was not manipulated.
“This particular technology will be put into use where live coverage of results will be delivered to all Anambrarians and Nigerians in general.
“Let it be stated unequivocally that the Obedient family is one, united and ready to go and that we are fully on ground in every part of Anambra State.
“We have completed the inauguration of our polling unit commanders across all units in the state.
“This process was held in every community, ward, all on the grassroot. We are trying to mobilize and activate all of our structure.
“Our commitment is simple to protect the mandate of the people and ensure that the voice of Anambrarians and citizens of Nigeria is not stolen or silence like what we witnessed in the 2023 general elections.
“Any contradiction from those results from the polling unit will be fully exposed to the Nigerian public and Anambrarians alike. The area where results will be written behind doors is over,” he said .
Tanko said the current generation of Nigerians at the moment were ready to challenge the establishment to ensure they delivered a credible election.
He called on all security agencies to ensure that voters were protected and that every citizen exercised their franchise without fear intimidation or inducement,
“We are not just participating, our young people, women, professionals and volunteers are mobilised and trained to monitor every step of the process, from accreditation to vote counting and result transmission.
“Let it be known that the obedient movement in Anambra is united, disciplined and focused.
“There is no division, no fiction, and no confusion. We stand together under one vision, the vision of a new Nigeria that begins from our polling unit.
“We call on INEC and the new chairman to prove that he is really ready for the 2027 general election to remain impartial and professional.
We warn that any compromise of the process will be resisted thr
ough law and a democratic means.
