Police Nab Suspected Member Of Criminal Gang In Anambra
The Police Command in Anambra has arrested a suspected criminal in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, identified as one Friday Nnamdi Anyikame, 25, was arrested during an intelligence led operation by Police operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu in the early morning of Nov. 20.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra who discovered this in a Statement on Friday said years two pump-action and 29 live cartridges were recovered.
Ikenga said, during interrogation, the suspect confessed to being an active member of an armed group and revealed that he operates from a criminal camp located in Ogbaru LGA.
He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu who commended the operatives for their swift and coordinated response, has ordered intensification of security surveillance.
He said Orutugu also directed targeted raid operations across the state and assured residents that the Command was already closing in on other fleeing members of the gang.
“We are determined to dismantle all criminal networks in Anambra.
“The CP CP urged people of Anambra to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police with timely and actionable information that will aid ongoing security operations,” he said.
