IWD: Oli Says Women Crucial To Nation Building, Donates Cash
Chief Chukwudi Oli, has described women as critical stakeholders in the building and sustenance of any society.
Oli (Oba Ezeafia), said this while speaking at the 2026 Anambra Women Summit on the occasion of International Women’s Day at the weekend.
The theme of the Summit was “Empower Her, Elevate All”.
He said women remained the backbone of families and communities adding that the growth and stability of any society defended on the empowerment, education and active participation of women in leadership.
Oli who was the Chairman of the event said women should be encouraged to be in the decision-making processes while calling for support for initiatives that promote the economic and social empowerment of women.
Participants at the summit were women leaders, professionals and community stakeholders from across the state.
In her part, Dr Mrs Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra governor called for increased empowerment of women across Nigeria.
Soludo said such efforts would strengthen society and place the nation in safer hands.
She described women as trustworthy and capable, adding that anything entrusted to a woman is often handled with care and responsibility.
“The administration of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo has continued to prioritise women empowerment and opportunities based on competence rather than gender,” she said.
Also speaking, Mrs Esther Chinyere Onyekesi, the Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra, described women as the pillars of the nation who deserved to be treated with care, respect and dignity.
Onyekesi said if women were empowered and protected, families, communities and the nation at large would become stronger.
Other speakers at the event were
Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, MD/CEO, Seahorse Lubricant, Sen. Emma Nwachukwu and Mr Pascal Agbodike representing Anambra South Senatorial District and Ihiala Federal Constituency respectively.
Participants commended the organisers and the chairman of the occasion for championing discussions around women empowerment saying the summit was a significant platform for strengthening the role of women in leadership.
