Nigerian Catholic Priest Slumps, Dies While Taking Walk In USA
Rev. Fr Michael Oli, an Anambra born Catholic priest based in the United States has died.
Fr Oli was said to have collapsed and died on March 26 while taking a road walk.
He was ordained on August 23, 2008.
His death was confirmed by the Catholic Diocese of Awka in a statement signed by the Chancellor, Rev. Fr Charles Ndubisi at the weekend.
The Statement said the late priest was serving as the Administrator of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Faith, South Dakota, before his passing.
The death of Oli has thrown the Catholic community into mourning as a result of the sudden passing of the priest.
Bishop Scott Bullock of the Rapid City Diocese who also confirmed the death described it as sudden and shocking.
Bullock revealed that authorities have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of d+ath.
“At this point, we do not know the cause of d+ath, only that he hadn’t been feeling well,” the bishop stated.
He called on fellow priests in the diocese to offer Masses for the repose of Fr. Oli’s soul in line with Catholic tradition.
