SWAN President Celebrates Christians at Easter
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) had extended warm felicitation to Christians in Nigeria and the entire world on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration.
Isaiah Benjamin, the President of SWAN sent the association’s felicitations in a goodwill message signed by Ikenna Okonkwo, the Secretary General.
He said Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection was an expression of practical sacrifice, love and heart-felt compassion for humanity.
He said the sacred season brought redemption, good news, upliftment, and new beginnings through Jesus Christ’s love for mankind.
He prayed that Easter would inspire renewed faith in Nigeria, strengthen the country’s unity, and reinforce shared commitment to building a better Nation.
“May this Easter season renew our hope, strengthen our bond as one people, and inspire us to work together for the progress and unity of our great nation.
“As we reflect on these divine truths, I urge us all to embody the virtues of sacrifice, love, unity, and service to one another.
” Let this season renew our collective resolve to build a stronger, more prosperous Sports sector, filled with blessings in our homes since the essence of Jesus’ coming is to give abundant life,” he said.
The President of SWAN urged Athletes, Administrators, the Sporting Media, political and religious leaders to renew their commitment in taking Sports to enviable heights.
“The Spirit of Easter should also propel all within the sporting arena to redouble our efforts in the part we play individually because when Sports is given its pride of place, the issues regarding employment, social welfare, insecurity among others will be a thing of the past.
“Whenever we empower individuals and communities through sports, we take bold steps in eradicating poverty and changing the narratives both in short and long terms,
“When Sports thrive, everyone partakes in the benefit, therein” he said.
