Soludo Axes Odinkalu, Bianca-Ojukwu, Appoints Onwualu New Pro-Chancellor Of COOU
Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has appointed Prof. Peter Onwualu as the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, of the state owned Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.
Mr Christian Aburime, the Chief Press Secretary Soludo who disclosed in a statement on Tuesday in Awka said the appointment of Onwualu, an Agric Engineer and members of his council was with immediate effect.
This signals the termination of the appointments of Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Ifeoma Ekwueme as Chairman and members of the Governing Council of the University.
Odinkalu, a rights advocate and former chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission with members of his board were appointed on June 5, 2024
According to Aburime, Chief Christopher Ndubuisi and HRH Igwe Chidiume Oranu were retained while Prof. Josephat Ogbuagu and Chief Chris Ezike AIG (Rtd) were new members of the Council.
Aburime said Onwughalu
was the current Vice Chancellor of African University of Science and Technology, Abuja; and also a former DG/CEO of the Raw Materials Research Development Council.
He said the new Pro-Chancellor was bringing a vast wealth of experience and expertise that cut across fields.
“Onwualu has authored over 200 publications and 10 patents, received awards from over 70 organisations, and is a fellow of 12 scientific and professional bodies.
“The new Governing Council members are expected to bring their combined wealth of diverse valued experiences to bear on the vision and governance of the university,” he said
