A group, the Concerned Creative Artists and Entertainers Initiative for Tinubu (CCAA4 Tinubu), an affiliate of the Tinubu Again Movement (TAM), have been called upon to throw their weight behind the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Dr Emeka-Rollas Ejezie, MON, Convener of the group made the call during the Nationwide Creative Sensitisation and Mobilisation programme organised by the Anambra Chapter on Wednesday.

Ejezie urged participants to take advantage of government programmes and policies and ensure that interest of creative professionals was protected, adding that they needed greater access to funding, improved welfare and stronger protection of parents rights.

He said in 2022, Tinubu had expressed his intention to establish a dedicated ministry for the creative industry and transform the National Theatre into a world-class facility and that he had fulfilled the promises.

According to him, the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy and the renovation of the National Theatre, now known as the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, are significant developments that deserve recognition.

Ejezie said experienced practitioners in the industry had been appointed into leadership positions in relevant cultural and creative institutions with government initiatives aimed at improving access to finance, skills, innovation and intellectual property monetisation.

“These interventions must translate into tangible benefits for ordinary practitioners, appointments and policy announcements alone are not enough without effective implementation and accountability,” he said

The CCAA4 Tinubu Convener however called on Creatives to ask critical questions about the accessibility of government programmes, the protection of intellectual property, the availability of creative infrastructure beyond Abuja and Lagos, and the welfare of industry professionals.

He called for increased access to financing, social protection, skills development, better distribution opportunities and the active involvement of guilds and associations in policy implementation.

He also challenged Anambra to position itself to benefit from federal creative economy programmes, develop creative hubs and create opportunities for young talents to build sustainable livelihoods.

“I must commend the creative industry members who attended the programme and encourage you to remain committed to the initiative’s mobilisation efforts towards Tinubu’s re-election.

“The creative sector is more than entertainment, it as an important source of employment, economic growth, cultural identity and Nigeria’s international influence.

“We must remain united, engage constructively with the government and ensure that their demands are clearly communicated,” he said.

In her remark, Ms Bibiana Nankwo, Anambra Coordinator of CCAA4 Tinubu, appreciated all participants for attending the gathering and reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that the voices of creative professionals were heard.

Nankwo said artists, entertainers and other practitioners deserve recognition and adequate representation in decisions affecting their work, welfare and future.

She encouraged members to remain actively involved in the initiative and contribute to strengthening its presence across the state.

She also admonished local government and ward coordinators to intensify grassroots mobilisation, reach out to creative professionals in their communities and work towards securing Tinubu’s return to office.

“Let us demonstrate commitment to their responsibilities, strengthen coordination at the grassroots and sustain engagement with members in their respective areas as the initiative advances its political objectives,” she said.
