Man 20, murders four years old nephew in Anambra
Uchechi Eze, a 20 years old man from Ezza Local Government Area of Ebonyi state suspected to have murdered a four years old boy in Anambra has been arrested by the Police in the state.
Eze was said to have killed the boy said be his nephew and identified as Chiemere Ezekiel on March 16 at about 10 pm by beheading him with an axe.
According to the Place the incident occluded in Ugamma Village in Obosi, Idemili North Council Area.
SP Haruna Mohammed, the PPRO in Anambra said the victim died on the spot.
Mohammed said the suspect had gone into hiding since the act but was arrested in his hideout with the collaborative effort of operatives of Anambra Vigilance Group.
He said Eze had made confessional statement about his involvement in the crime while the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
“Police operatives attached to Obosi Division visited the Scene and took the victim to Unity hospital Obosi where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor and his Corpse deposited at St. Edward mortuary for autopsy while intensive manhunt of suspect intensified.
“ Consequently, following intelligence report, Police detectives attached to Obosi division in conjunction with Vigilante group in the area arrested the Culprit at a criminal hideout smoking substance suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.
“Suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and the exhibit he used in perpetrating the dastardly act was also recovered in his possession.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police John Abang has directed that the case be transferred to the Criminal investigation department(CID) for discreet investigation after which suspect would be charged to Court for prosecution,” he stated.
