Motorcyclist killed, another injured in Anambra crash
A motorcycle transport operator identified bike rider identified as Okafor Chibuzor, 26-year old lost his on Monday when he collided with a motorist on the Enugu-Ukwu axis of the old Enugu-Onitsha road.
The passenger on the motorcycle escaped with serious injury.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), a Toyota Camry car marked KPP-979-PJ who was apparently on top speed collided with the motorcycle.
Mr Andrew Kumapayi, Sector Commander of FRSC in Anambra said the deceased was confirmed dead at a private hospital where he was rushed to for treatment while the passenger was responding to treatment.
Kumapayi who spoke through Mr Pascal Anigbo, Public Education Officer of the command said the driver of the vehicle had been handed over to the Police for further investigation.
“ A total of Three adult males were involved in the crash, the bike rider identified as Okafor Chibuzor was confirmed dead by doctors at Zion Hospital, where they were rushed to by some good Samaritan before the arrival of FRSC rescue team.
“The corpse was deposited in the morgue at the same hospital.
“The cause of the crash could be attributed to over-speeding and distracted driving, the driver of the Toyota Camry has been handed over to the police, for further investigation,” he said.
The Sector Commander warned motorists against speeding and need for maximum concentration by all road users while expressing deep condolences with the family of the deceased and quick recovery for the injured.
