Anambra PDP: Sen. Uba urges INEC To Reject Ozigbo’s Name As Candidate
Sen. Ugochukwu Uba, factional candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Nov. 6 governorship election in Anambra has prayed the Court to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to refuse the name of Valentine Ozigbo as candidate of the party.
Uba made the prayer in a Motion Ex-Parte dated 5 day of July. 2021 and filed the same date together with the Affidavit in support and an Anambra High Court Sitting in Awka.
Uba also prayed the Court to order that Ozigbo from parading himself as candidate of PDP for the election pending the determination of substantive suit.
In the Motion no. A/558/2021, Uba was the plaintiff while IBEC, PDP and Ozigbo were the 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants.
He also prayed the Court to grant him leave to serve the defendants the suit by substituted means while seeking for expedited hearing of the matter in view of the proximity of the July 16 date for Publication of candidates’ list.
Granting the relief sought by the plaintiff Hon Justice Obiora Nwabunike said he had heard submissions of Emeka Nwankwo who held the brief of BEI Nwofor
Counsel for the Plaintiff/Applicant, and ordered as follows:

“Leave be and is hereby granted to the Plaintiff/ Applicant at issue and serve the Originating Summons and all other processes filed in this suit on the 1st and 2nd Detendant, out of the jurisdiction of this Court. and in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja and to issue and mark same as
Concurrent Originating Summons.
“Leave is granted to the Plaintiff/Applicant for Substituted service on the 3rd Defendant.
*An Order of accelerated hearing in this suit, having regard to the fact that it is a pre-election matter and the fact that the Governorship Election for Anambra State has been fixed for Nov 6
“The Defendants are hereby ordered and directed to await the determination or outcome of this suit and restrained from presenting, receiving, parading or accepting any person as the governorship Candidate of the 2 Defendant’s party for the governorship election,” he ruled.
The matter was adjourned to the
July 12 for hearing of the substantive suit.
