Anambra Election: Don’t Go To Court, Avoid Further Humiliation, Okoli Urges Sen. Uba
Chief Rommy Okoli, a former gubernatorial aspirant in Anambra has called on Sen. Andy Uba to shelve his plans to contest the result of the Nov. 6 and Nov. 9 elections in court
Okoli, who aspired on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) made the call in Awka.
Okoli who endorsed Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party before the election said Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s victory was profound and widely accepted by Anambra people and lovers of democracy.
Okoli said Ubah will not achieve much result as anything contrary to the current situation would be an attempt to subvert the wishes of the generality of the people and would not augur well for the state.
He called on all the governorship candidates and aspirants to support Soludo in the interest of peace and progress of Anambra.
“I am certain that Sen. Andy Uba will not achieve anything by embarking on litigation against Soludo who won the election, doing that will instead make people hate him more.
“Anambra People have spoken in unison, I congratulate the winner and call for restitution, reconciliation, reconstruction and rebuilding of Anambra State everyone will be proud of devoid of partisan affiliation,” he said.
Okoli said there was so much work to do and that the governor elect does not need distractions.
He said though the Bimodal Voter Authentication System technology adopted by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the election hampered the process, it had a universal effect on all candidates.
“There is so much work to be done and dragging the governor elect to court by anyone will be a distraction and indeed counter productive.
“It is true that the INEC performed below expectations but their inefficiency affected all the candidates, Soludo is not responsible for the observed challenges.
“The election has come and gone and a winner emerged; it is now incumbent on all the good people of Anambra State and friends of the state to rally round him,” he said.
