The Vice-Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019 elections, Mr Peter Obi, has commiserated with the government and people of Sokoto State over the recent attack by bandits, which claimed about 23 lives, while mourning the victims of the attack.
In a Press Release from his Media Office, Obi said it is disheartening that life is continually losing its value in Nigeria, especially with the rising trend of insecurity, banditry and kidnapping. He stated that a threat to peace anywhere is a threat to peace anywhere.
Explaining that the Sokoto attack and other attacks all over the nation are serious national issues of insecurity that should be the concern of every Nigerian, Obi called on the government to step up Nigeria’s security architecture and ensure that such ugly incidents do not happen again in any part of the country.
“It is disheartening to be experiencing this unimaginable level of insecurity in our country. The negative economic impacts of insecurity are too enormous. We must unite as a nation and fight this ugly monster of insecurity ravaging our country,’ Obi said.
The Former Governor of Anambra also commiserated with Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, and the good people of Sokoto State, urging them to bear the loss of with fortitude. He prayed God to grant eternal rest to the souls of the victims.
