Police Did Not Pay Supreme Price For Soludo’s Election… CP Echeng
The Police Commissioner in Anambra, Mr Echeng Echeng says the Police did not pay supreme price to support the election of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the state governor.
DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relation Office (PPRO) said this in a Statement in Awka on Thursday.
Ikenga was reacting to an online publication where the CP was quoted to have said that ‘police paid supreme price for soludo’s governorship ambition’
He said the public was both misleading and mischievous as the CP neither said nor implied.
According to the PPRO, The attention of Anambra State Police Command has been drawn to a publication stating that the CP Echeng Echeng made an assertion March 16 at media briefing that police paid supreme price for soludo’s governorship ambition.
“To put the record straight, the Command wishes to state that during an interactive session with the journalist after the press briefing, CP said the Police and other security agencies are ready to provide security services for today’s Inauguration/swearing ceremony.
“He said that the command provided security to all before and during the election and will continue to do so .
“The CP once again, urges the media to verify information from the Command and ensure that what is published is authentic to avoid misleading the general public,” he said.
Ikenga said the command and office of the PPRO had been active with responding to calls from journalists and media people while urging them to put a call through him or the CP for correct information before publication.
