Obiano’s Former Aide, Maduakolam Explains Renders Account Of Stewardship
The former SA to the Anambra State Governor on Information, Communication and Strategy, Barr Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam has explained why he kept the appointment inspite not having official assignment and how he spent the proceeds from the office.
Maduakolam who resigned his appointment to pursue his ambition to represent Ihiala federal Constituency in the National Assembly before Obiano dissolved his cabinet said he had the capacity to bring dividends of democracy to his people.
He said his attention had been drawn to the circular which terminated appointments of Obiano’s aides but dismissed the worry expressed by his teeming supporters that it would affect his ability to impact on his people.
Maduakolam said he wished to place it on record that he had long resigned his appointment and has articulated his intervention plans for the edification of his supporters .
According to him, the joy with which I accepted the appointment quickly died down when I found out that there was no official assignment attached to it, I knew I didn’t earn the money and was in a dilemma as to what to do in the circumstances.
“However, it was the wife of the governor, Osodieme, who reaffirmed my belief in the fact that the money was not for me.
“She said the government sought to use the appointees to affect people who would otherwise not have contact with the administration,” he said.
Maduakolam, UK trained Lawyer expressed his appreciation to Gov Willie Obiano for the appointment and said that he had resolved to spend the money on the people of his constituency 16 critical needs areas.
He said he hosted JAMIE Secondary School Debate 2019 and gave scholarships to winners of different categories while a children’s swing was bought for 2 primary schools in Azia.
He says he donated two months salary to victims of Feb. 3rd, 2021, church massacre in Azia and invested six months salary in an Anti-Bet Campaign to discourage young people from gambling addiction and installed solar-powered lights at Obom Market Square.”
“Also, I provided 100 cartons of noodles during COVID 19 sit-at-home as palliative, invested in young talents by publishing adapted Delf 1 French Textbook.
“I provided steady water supply to Azia Police Station, completed with his friends, a 4-bedroom bungalow for Mrs Augustina Nwangwu Orji in Abam Azia, distributed 2000 plantain seedlings to women in Ihiala LGA.
“I paid 50 per cent fee for training of 20 Students in Programming, Graphics and Coding, sponsored five Ihiala youths to TedxIkenegbu 2020, sponsored 10 Ihiala Youths to SMFest Owerri 2021.
“I donated five musical instruments to Mother Offiah Memorial Secondary School Azia, sponsored NYSC Ihiala Charity Community Development Service Outing 2022 and augmented the monthly salaries of teachers for Mother Offiah Memorial Nursery and Primary School Ugwuobi Azia.”
