Gov. Wike Humiliated As Atiku wins PDP 2023 Presidential Primary
Gov. Nyesom Wike, the self-styled generalissimo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost his ambition to fly the flag of the party in the 2023 election to Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of Nigeria.
Atiku won the contest held in Abuja in May with 371 beating the bragging governor of Rivers state who scored 237 to second place.
Newsmonitor reports that Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state, another strong contender for the PDP ticket stepped down and collapsed his structure for Atiku at the venue of the convention.
Recall also that Wike had described his opponents as featherweights and boasted that the PDP ticket was for him to win even if he wasn’t going to win the presidential election proper.
Ex gov Peter Obi of Anambra who was contesting for the ticket had withdrawn from the contest and resigned membership of the party citing gang up and plans to throw him out of the party by stalwarts.
Other contestants in the primary election and their votes were Bukola Saraki, 70 votes; Anyim Pius, 14 votes; Bala Mohammed, 20 votes; Emmanuel Udom, 38 votes; Sam Ohuabunwa one vote and Oliver Teriela Diana 1 vote
Two were disqualified by the David Mark-led screening committee while Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi opted out of the race and resigned from the party, leaving 14 contenders.
