2023: Anambra CP Tells Political Parties To Submit Campaign Timetables
Mr Echeng Echeng, Commissioner of Police in Anambra has called on political parties to avail the command with the time tables of all their activities ahead of the commencement of campaigns in the state.
Echeng made the call during a meeting with leaders of political parties and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Awka on Tuesday.
He said information on the political activities of the parties would enable the Command to provide adequate security for the safety of participants at such events.
The Police boss pointed out that campaigns were a critical part of the electioneering process while assuring that his command would give the party an equal operational environment.
“This will definitely prevent criminal elements/hoodlums from taking advantage of unsuspecting party faithfuls and properly secure such events,” he said.
Echeng said the Command would deploy tactical and operational units as well as traffic control policemen to strategic points to ensure that the existing public safety and order in the state was sustained.
He urged officers in the Command to display a high level of professionalism and operate within the ambit of the law while discharging their duties.
According to him, the teams are expected to carry out security patrols, surveillance, traffic control and patrols in conjunction with sister security agents.
“Officers that will be deployed for this assignment are enjoined to display a high level of professionalism and operate within the context of the law.
“Members of the public are advised to coordinate themselves and cooperate with the police and other security agents in the course of discharging their constitutional responsibilities,” he said.
