Anambra ALGON Mobilises Support For APGA Ahead of State House of Assembly Polls.
The Association of Local Governments Of Nigeria (ALGON) in Anambra has warned against plots to instigate fresh political crisis in the area by the opposition.
It has also condemned what it called campaign of calumny against the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ahead of the State Assembly election in the area saying that it is a show of desperation.
Rising from a meeting of the body yesterday the spokesmen noted that it would not allow the forthcoming State Assembly election to be used to distract the government of Prof Charles Soludo adding that the entire twenty one local government areas in the state would vote massively for APGA.
Chief Emeka Orji, the Chairman of Onitsha South local government area said there was no gain saying the fact that Anambra was an APGA state.
Orji said it was funny that a political party would just emerged and attempt to defeat APGA in a State where it had produced three governors in two tenures of eight years each.
According to him, for us in Onitsha South local government area it is 17/17 and thirty over thirty and that means that we are not losing any single electoral ward to any party because it is APGA all the way” he said.
On his part, Mr Kingsley Obi, Chairman Ihiala local government area it was not about having wishful thinking about something that is not realizable at this point.
Obi who spoke through who spoke Mr Elvis Okoli, his his Media Assistant said the people of Ihiala local government area had spoken in favour of APGA.
He said Ihiala would not forget the fight Soludo gave to the hoodlums that had held Ihiala local government area at the jugglers and how this administration has been able to ensure that the people of Ihiala came out to vote in the last general election.
“We also have massive road construction that is already going on in the council area through the instrumentality of the Soludo led administration and also how he has been able to sanitize the Transportation sector and reduced the negative activities of the touts and revenue thieves “
“Those who feel that because of that chance they took following the feelings of the Nigerian youths they would win a party that has its firm root in Anambra state should have a rethink.
“Some people have a negative design to cause trouble and make Anambra ungovernable by trying to impose their errand boys on the State House of Assembly in order to distract the administration of Soludo.
“We wish to state that Anambra people would resist it on the day of election by voting only APGA candidates,” he said.
