Fiaku High Jump Wizkid Set To Dazzle At Africa Athletics Championship In Zambia
Fiaku Goodluck Ezechukwuchiri, 16 years old current junior high jump champion is set to depart with the rest of Team Nigeria to All Africa Junior Athletics Championship in Lusaka, Zambia.
The 55-man team comprised 42 athletes and 13 officials.
Anambra born Fiaku emerged top at the All Secondary Schools Athletics Championship and AFN U18-U20 All Comers trials in Abeokuta, Ogun and Kaduna States respectively earlier this year.
Fiaku holds a personal best record of 2.07 metres and showed exceptional readiness at the national camp in Asaba Delta State.
Patrick-Estate Onyedum, Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission said the development was an attestation to gis desire to have Anambra sports men and women on the world map.
Onyedum said he was happy to have given Fiaku the opportunity to take part at the national trials while congratulating for making the national team.
The chairman wished team Nigeria goodluck while urging the teeming talented Anambra youths to key into the Anambra Sports Solution Initiative of the Commission and develop their talents.
Johnny Igboka, the coach who discovered Fiaku said he had always believed in the ability of the athlete to hit the world stage.
Igboka is the founder and operator of All Sports Foundation, Nimo, one of the oldest Sports Academies in country.
The Africa athletics championship would hold between April 29 and May 3.
