Sports Commission Boss Threatens To Sack Stadium Tenants Over Dirty Environment
Patrick-Estate Onyedum, Chairman of Anambra State Sports Development Commission has directed tenants at the state owned Godwin Achebe Stadium, Fegge to clean up their surroundings within 48 hours or face eviction.
Onyedum read the riot act when he paid an unscheduled visit to Stadium in company of some of staff members frowned at the poor sanitation condition of the stadium and its environment.
He mandated the vendors to take responsibility for keeping the facility clean as dirt was generated from the commercial activities.
The chairman also ordered the immediate evacuation of all tricycles parked within the stadium and other items not related to sports or the owners would stand the risk of forfeiting them.
“The environmental condition of this stadium is unacceptable, not when the message of Mr Governor is clean and green Anambra for healthy living.
“You have 48 hours to clean this environment or leave, we will not allow you to continue abuse our environment, get your your trashcan, gather your refuse and dispose them properly.
“I will be here in two to three days time, if you do not do the needful, consider yourselves sacked from here,” he said.
Onyedum later visited the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium also in Onitsha where he inspected the facility.
He reiterated the need for vendors and managers to ensure that sporting facilities were kept clean at all times.
