Anambra Community Lauds Soludo For Intervening In Leadership Crisis
The People of Urum in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra have commended Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for wading into the leadership issues in the community.
Chief Alloy Tabansi, the President General of Urum said this while speaking with Newsmen on Sunday on the rescheduled Urum Development Union election.
Recall that the election which was held on Dec 30 2024 was cancelled for irregularities and rescheduled for March 30 but was called off on the intervention of the state government.
The government in a letter dated March 29 extended the tenure of the President General and his executives for a period of three months to enable them make peace and see to the conduct of free and fair elections.
Tabansi called on his people to remain calm and peaceful while urging them to use the Easter period to reflect on their lives and on the need to forgive each other as well as embrace peace.
According to him, Peace is what brings development, so the entire community must work together without letting few disgruntled elements to impose their personal interest over the overall united interest of Urum people.
Hon. Chief Tabansi prayed that the resurrection of Jesus Christ bring more light, Greatness, Joy, Happiness and open more doors of blessings and development to the agrarian community as well as the state in general.
The Urum President General also commended Mr Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, the Commissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and President of ASATU, for their roles in ensuring that Urum did not degenerate into crisis.
He said, already, he had swung into action to ensure that within the three month extension, the community would have a legally elected executive that will pilot their affairs and take them to a greater height.
According to him, a 15- man Peace Committee has been set up to actualize the objective of the state government which is to have peace and progress in the Community.
The PG said the Committee was made up of religious leaders from various denominations, outstanding men and stakeholders who will in less than one month work to return peace to the community.
Tabansi said they were trusted and capable hands that will Within one month Unite everybody including the candidates that are in contest of the Executive positions and every other aggrieved persons.
Nwachinaemelu also thanked the traditional ruler of Urum , Igwe Benedict Nweke for all his efforts to see that the community forged ahead as one united people devoid of crises.
He expressed optimism that Urum people will in no distant time come together to celebrate the developmental projects of governor Chukwuma Soludo, especially road Infrastructures.
