Suspected Vandal Electrocuted While Attacking EEDC Property
A yet to be identified man has been electrocuted in his failed bid to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) in Enugu.
The lifeless body of suspect was found near a distribution transformer In the early hours of Friday around Missionary Avenue, Coal Camp.
Emeka Ezeh, Head, Corporate Communications of EEDC who disclosed this said it was presumed that power supply must have been restored while the deceased was cutting the armoured cables, which resulted in his electrocution.
Ezeh described the incident as tragic and very unfortunate.
He decried the increasing rate at which vandals attack electricity installations within EEDC’s network saying the development had adversely impacted on quality of service to its customers company’s revenue.
The Image Maker said that vandalism had been a big challenge to the company, and there is no way this can be addressed without the support of critical stakeholders.
“It is a battle we all have to fight collectively because once these transformers are vandalised, customers who are served by the installation will be greatly affected,,” he said.
Ezeh appealed to customers to join hands with the company to ensure that these facilities within their neighbourhoods are protected.
