ANFASSC President Condemns Forgery by Members Of Supporter Clubs Coalition
Prince Yomi Ogunjimi, President of the Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC), has condemned an attempt to forge his signature to curry favour from authorities.
Ogunjimi reacted to the recent efforts by one Ogunfuwa, President of the Football Fans Club of Nigeria, to forge his signature on a document intended for travel to France for the Olympics.
He said integrity was important within the coalition of supporter groups.
“Efforts are being made to unify different supporter groups under one umbrella, this is a welcome development.
“However, there are procedures that must be followed, this brazen act by a coalition member at this early stage is counterproductive,” he said.
Ogunfuwa allegedly forged Ogunjimi’s signature on a document presented to the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), claiming it had the endorsement of the presidents of five major supporters clubs in Nigeria.
Ogunjimi, however, denied any knowledge of such efforts or signing any documents.
The matter is currently under investigation by the Nigeria Police Force’s Anti-Fraud Unit, led by CP Akpanudom at Alagbon and Ogunjimi’s lawyers are following up on the case.
Reports have that this incident is not isolated, as Ogunfuwa had been previously arrested by Interpol’s Force CID Alagbon, Lagos, in 2016 for forging documents presented to the Brazilian Embassy.
The Consular General of the Brazilian Embassy in Lagos discovered the forged documents, including fake bank statements, submitted by Ogunfuwa, who claimed to be a Protocol Officer of the Okumagba group.
