Southeast Renewed Hope Ambassadors Hails SC, PBAT On LG Financial Autonomy
South East Renewed Hope Ambassadors (SERHA) has hailed the Supreme Court Judgment on disbursement of Local Government share of allocation in the federation account straight to them.
SERHA made the commendation in the Communique issued in Awka Saturday from the meeting of its executive in Enugu.
The group described the judgement as a welcome development which guaranteed that dividends of democracy of course was now guaranteed at the grassroot up to the national level
It appreciated the President, for his good intentions for Nigerians and for approaching the apex court through the Attorney General and Minister of Justice which resulted to the judgement.
It said the development had set the tone for the emancipation of thiird tier of government which was closer to the people.
“We uphold and support in its entirety the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling on Local Government autonomy.
“SERHA equally use this medium to urge Mr President to ensure full implementation of the court ruling, particularly the aspect that relates to Independent National Electoral Commission conducting the local government elections in the affected States and not State Independent Electoral Commission,” it said.
The Communique was signed by Mr Arinzechukwu Awogu, President, Dr Ugochukwu Ugwu, Vice President, Mr Nwogba Morgan, Secretary General, Mr Joseph Odumuko, Youth President and Mrs Lovett Emere National Women Leader.
