Amede.Org, a United States based
Charity Organisation has appointed Chief Arinze Awogu as its ambassador of goodwill.
Awogu, a former Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Council was bestowed with the award in Asaba, Delta State capital on Wednesday.
Amede.Org is an initiative of Amede Bryan-Philip-Deane, an Anambra born US-based organisation which provides a wide range of social, economic and medical support for vulnerable populations in communities Anambra, Rivers, Abuja and some other states in Nigeria.
Amede.Org has been providing support to Orphanages and Homes for the Elderly in Anambra with monthly supply of food items and funding in addition to bedding, clothing, wheelchairs, disinfectants and cleaning materials as well as portable water.
Mr Kene Nwaka, the country representative of Amede.Org, who conferred the honour on Awogu said the award was in recognition of his support and commitment to saving humanity.
Nwaka said that the organisation would scale up its intervention programs in Anambra.
Speaking during the conferment of award, Awogu said that he was worried about the lack of support and poor attention given to Orphanages and Homes for the Elderly in Anambra state, particularly in Ogbaru.
He recalled that the journey of Amade.Org’s intervention started when he visited and reached out to Amede Bryan-Philip-Deane and her international network in New Jersey, United States in 2021 as Council Chairman of Ogbaru local government area.
He said he made efforts to enlist Madonna Mercy Family, run by Rev. Fr. Collins Ojene and Rev. Sister Uyanne’s Madonna Angels Orphanage/ Children’s Home into the state government’s monthly subvention for needy homes failed that he reached out to Amede.Org,
“Amede.Org. stepped in and became a huge relief and since 2021 till today, the humanitarian organization has helped in many ways in both homes and in some communities in the state.
“For me, Amede.Org covers up where the government’s presence is lacking and it brings succor to our common humanity.
“I call on the wealthy and public spirited individuals to spare a moment with the growing number of victims of vicissitudes of life and lend their support through Amede.Org’s efforts to reach out to the poor in the society,” he said.
Awogu applauded the President of Amede.Org, Amede Bryan-Philip-Deane, alongside Dr. Alex Emejom, Fr. Collins Ojene, Rev. Sister Uyanne and the men and women of Amede.Org for being assets in bettering the lives the people.
