Arsonists Bomb Police Station, Kill Cop In Anambra
The Divisional Police Headquarters in Oba, Idemili South Local Government of Anambra has been attacked by yet to be identified hoodlums.
The hoodlums killed one Corporal in the incident which occurred in the early hours Sept. 3.
Source has it that in the bid to gain access to the facility, the arsonists detonated petrol bombs at the facility setting fire on some of the offices in the process.
Meanwhile, a Police-led Joint Security Force comprising the Army, Navy, Civil defense and other security agencies are currently in a joint on-slaught operation within Oba and its environments.
SP Toochukwu Ikenga, the the Police Public Relations Officer of Anvea Command said Oba Civic Centre was also affected.
Ikenga, who disclosed in a statement confirmed that the police corporal was fatally wounded and later died from the injuries.
He said the Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Itam had condemned the act as an attack on the soul of a Nation vowing to bring those behind the unholy act to book.
“The fire was put off with the help of other Police officers on duty and the Joint Security responding team.
“The Commissioner of Police CP views the attack and hostility towards security agents as an attack on the soul of a Nation and vowed to bring those behind the unholy act to book,” he said.
Meanwhile the Ogbaru Local Government Secretariat was attacked on Aug. 30 destroying some buildings and property.
