INEC Says Anambra Guber Poll To Hold Nov. 8, Next Year
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has said the Anambra State governorship election will hold on Nov. 8, 2025.
Mahmood who announced the date for the Anambra off-cycle election in Abuja on Thursday at special stakeholders meeting on the forthcoming Ondo State governorship election.
Mahmood said a formal notice of the election would be issued on Nov. 13.
He said the timeline was in compliance with Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, which mandated INEC to issue election notices not later than 360 days before the election date.
Mahmood said party primaries for Anambra State governorship election would be conducted between March 20 and April 10, 2025, while the final list of candidates will be published on June 9, 2025.
On the Ondo State election, . Mahmood said preparation was almost complete noting that 10 out of the 13 key activities listed in the timetable and schedule for the Nov. 16, had already been successfully completed.
He said collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) for newly registered voters in Ondo State began on October 17 and would continue at Ward levels until October 21.
