Nwosu Urges ‘Obidient Movement’ To Sustain Quest For Good Governance
Mr. John Nwosu, an aspirant in the 2025 governorship election in Anambra has called on the ‘Obidient movement ‘ to sustain the quest for a good governance and prosperius Nigeria by continuous engagements and participation in politics.
Nwosu, an aspirant for the Labour Party ticket for Anambra 2025 made call at the Obidient Movement Southeast Good Governance Symposium in Onitsha on Saturday.
He said already, the Obidient’ Movement had redefined Nigeria politically but pointed out that more was still need to be done.
He described the group as a huge and inclusive body which transcended politics, ethnicity and religion while urging the organisers to accommodate everyone who wished to see a better, secure, peaceful and productive Nigeria.
“As our Principal Mr Peter Obi use to say, we are in a marathon race to produce a New Nigeria and I firmly believe that a New Nigeria is imperative and possible.
“We are all called to serve and join forces under the Obidient Movement to bring about the desired changes that we all yearn for a new and better Nigeria
“We are seeing those who were not there at the beginning trying to hijack the Obidient Movement, we must not allow it to happen, this Movement is not aligned with any political party,” he said
Nwosu said Anambra people were currently undeserved and overtaxed under the currently administration.
He said Anambra needed to be more innovative and look beyond
federal allocation with Internally generated revenue predicated on fair taxation.
“I am committed to fair tax policies that consider small businesses and low-income individuals as commensurate contributors towards promoting economic growth and social justice.
“I intend to put in place social welfare programmes; Social Safety Nets that cater for the populace.
“A new Nigeria is Possible, charity begins at home; so we will start here, I Obidiently offered myself to serve,” he said.
Earlier in his remark , Dr Tanko Yunusa, National Coordinator of Obidient Movement said Mr Peter had the potential to clinch victory in the 2027 presidential election, given his pedigree and antecedent.
Yunusa said the Obidient Movement would push for electoral reform and deploy enough agents at the polling units during future elections.
The programme drew participants from the five Southeast states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.
