Abure’s Sack: LP Top Aspirant Pulls Out Of April 5 Anambra Guber Primary Election
Mr John Nwosu has withdrawn from the Anambra governorship primary election of the Labour Party scheduled for April 5.
Nwosu in a letter signed April 4 said he reached the decision after a review of alleged illegalities and indecent conduct by officials of the Party at the National and State levels.
He said those saddled with the responsibility of conducting the governorship primary election in Anambra fell short of the provisions of the Constitution of Labour Party, INEC guidelines and regulations.
He also said that with the Supreme Court sack of Mr Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party today April 4, all processes he supervised since the expiration of his tenure could no longer stand judicial scrutiny.
“I have decided to pull out of the Labour Party Anambra State Governorship Elections scheduled to hold today 5th April, 2025, due to gross and intolerable irregularities in the run up process,” he said.
Nwosu said no verifiable delegates’ congress took place in any of the 21 LGAs of Anambra, yet a list of purported delegates emerged which was altered several times and published eight hours to the primary election.
He said outcome of the primary elections as scheduled will be tainted with severe irregularities, illegalities and will be unacceptable.
He said he would not lend credence to the planned illegality by participating in the process
*I wish to dissociate myself from participating in this primary election, which is already a charade contrary to natural justice, equity and good conscience.
“I stand ready to serve and participate in future political processes that are credible, transparent and fair,” he said.
