AIFL Postpones Finals Over Death Of Club Owner, Manager The Management of Anambra Independent Football league (AIFL), has announced the postponement of the grand finale of Season 5 scheduled for July 16.The league cancelled the finals following the death of Philip Udala, Chairman of Udala FC and Godsent Eriobu, Manager of the club who were killed during an attack on their convoy on Tuesday.This was contained in a Statement signed by Rev Fr Obinna Dike, Chairman, Rev Fr Damian Ogwatta, Vice Chairman and Rev Fr Christian Umeojilinnaka, Match Coordinator and Iyke Nwokedi Chairman AIFL Season 5 finals organizing committee of AIFL. The League management said the decision was reached after due consultation with the AIFL Season 5 finals organising committee.According to Statement, the AIFL wishes to announce to the general public that the AIFL Season 5 Grand Finale earlier scheduled for this Friday, July 16 has been moved to July 23.”The Grand Finale would be held at the same venue, St Mary’s High school field Ifitedunu on the new date.”This shift is in honour of AIFL Secretary Godsent Eriobu and Proprietor of AIFL and Chairman Udala FC, Chief Philip Udala whose death have been come to our knowledge. “As the AIFL awaits further information, we plead with numerous guests, stakeholders and teams for the event to kindly adjust accordingly, as inconveniences are regretted,” he said.Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Public Relations Officer in Anambra who confirmed the incident said the information was still sketchy and could not give details of casualties.
