AIG meets CPs, warns personnel against human rights abuse
AIG Danmallam Mohammed in charge of the newly created Zone 13 in Anambra has warmed personnel under him against intimidation and abuse of rights of Nigerians .
Mohammed stated this at a media conference after he met with the Police Commissioners in the three state under the zone including Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu.
The commissioners were CP John Abang, CP Abdulrahaman Ahmed and CP Philip Maku of Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi states respectively.
The AIG said the Command under his watch would fight armed robbery and kidnapping to a standstill while assuring that the rights of Nigerians would be respected.
According to him, will make sure there is security, we will make sure that the good people of this country which go about their lawful business do so without fear of intimidation.
“What we want to assure the public that it is our collective resolve and believe in professionalism, law and order and due process.
“As police officers our duty is to maintain law and order and we have decided that we will do this within the ambit of the law.
“We shall protect lives and property, rights of citizens as stipulated in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Under my watch it is no to illegal arrest and detention, no to torture, no to extra judicial killings, no to extortion of money from innocent Nigerians,” he said.
The Zonal Commander said they were adopting the community policing strategy of the Inspector General of Police and assured that they would work with other sister agencies for effective security.
He urged members with useful information to divulge same to the police while promising that their identities and security would be protected.
