Anambra 2021: Gov. Uzodimma Urges Peace, Unity In Anambra APC
Gov. Hope Uzodimma of IMO state has called on chieftains and members of the All Progressives Congress to embrace peace and go into the Nov. 6 governorship election as a united house.
Uzodimma made the call during a stakeholders meeting between members of the party in Anambra and South East party leaders in Awka on Saturday.
He said every rift and misunderstanding within the party must be resolved in the interest of general good as Anambra was important APC in national political space
The governor said though Anambra people were ingenuous in industry, politics and academics what it lacked was the spirit of forgiveness and compromise for it to hook up to national grid of politics.
Uzodimma who is also coordinator of APC reconciliation in the South East said that APC would not give undue advantage to anybody but would ensure that the primary was fair, free and credible.
“APC will not impose candidate on you, the winner of the primary will be the person chosen by members of the party.
“Anambra is important to APC just as it is important to Nigeria, the state has played enough of opposition in Nigeria, APC will take Anambra to the centre.
“APC leaders must work together, there bust be give and take and forgiveness for the party to be the dominant party in Anambra, we shall mobilise forces to achieve victory for our party, “ he said.
On his part, Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment said the journey to election had started with release of INEC timetable.
Ngige said members should participate in the party registration validation exercise and win more converts because people were needed for victory.
He said there was no second place in election and urged aspirants to main the cordial relationship among them such that others would support whoever emerged and ensure his victory.
Sen. Ken Nnamani, Chairman of the APC revalidation exercise said it would kick of at the national level on Jan 30 after which each geopolitical zone would take their dates for commencement.
Nnamni said it would take place at the polling units level while enjoining party faithful to ensure that they took part.
In his welcome address, Chief Basil Ejidike, chairman of APC caretaker committee in Anambra said it was time to takeover the mantle of leadership in Anambra from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
Ejidike said the party leadership had drawn up its work plan ahead of the election but needed financial and logistics support to make it work.
The chairman called for good reward system for those who had supported the party as an encouragement instead of giving appointment to non party members.
“I call for unity of purpose and direction, if we remain united and bound together like our party’s room, the collective march to Anambra Government House will be a reality,” he said.
