Anambra Airport Records 142 Flights In One Month
The Anambra Cargo Airport has recorded a total of 142 commercial and private flights since it was opened for commercial operation on Dec. 7, 2021
Mr Marcel Ifejiofor, Commissioner of Works in Anambra disclosed this in an interview with newsmen.
Ifejiofor said the figures surpassed projections when compared with other airport’s but could have been more if there were more airline operators using the facility.
The Commissioner said the airport contributed significantly to the ease of road traffic as those who would have landed at Asaba and Enugu Airports flew straight into Anambra.
According to him, so far we have recorded 142 flights and 3865 passengers.
“With that we have overshot the projection, that is because we are still having only two airline operators landing but more have indicated interest, we have enough apron and tarmac to take all these airlines.
“Anambra Airport is a hub, there is no place you can’t go to in Nigeria, we are just scratching the surface of terms of activities that will take place here,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr Martin Nwafor, Managing Director of Anambra Airport Management Authority said the service quality at the airport had continued to improve.
Nwafor said all the regulatory agencies in the aviation sector including Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Nigeria Meteorological Agency, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria among others were fully domiciled at the airport and were working effectively.
He said there had not been any issues since inception and that the Airport Management was fully prepared to handle any when they arose adding that the staff were trained and had been given sufficient orientation.
