Anambra APC Guber Aspirants Urged To Work For Victory
Chief Ekene Enefe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra says the chances of the party to win the Nov.6 governorship election in the state was bright but the victory must be worked for by the aspirants.
Enefe said on Monday in Awka that the party and the aspirants had to relate and work with the communities more and ensure they grassroots became part of their train.
He said though the goodwill President Muhammadu enjoys in the South East was a huge advantage, the aspirants must not be carried away and rely on Abuja or federal might alone for victory.
He said the aspirants should be united and queue behind whosoever emerged from the primary while urging the party to conduct a primary election that would reflect the wishes of majority of the people.
“The chances of APC is very bright in Anambra because of the failure of present APGA led government which has failed to initiate and accomplish durable infrastructure, we have huge infrastructure deficit in Anambra especially roads and security.
“We can’t talk about winning election in Anambra without counting on the achievements of President Muhammadu, Buhari, who has shown immense love for the zone going by the massive infrastructure development going on in the region.
“This is the time for APC to takeover the mantle of government in Anambra, but we are not doing enough, I expect the party to develop a robust grassroots based campaign, we should not rely on any power or connection anywhere.
“This election has to be seen to be win freely and fairly, people want people they can trust, the aspirants have to touch the base, they need to carry the grassroots along, they should roll up their sleeves and get to work,” he said .
Enefe threw his weight behind the call for president of Igbo extraction and called on the people to take articulate steps including reaching out to other regions towards achieving that political objective.
The chieftain said Igbo people within the Nigeria including those outside South East should considered to ensure that the best was presented to the country.
He said a youth should be given a chance as records have shown that the best preforming ministers in the present Federal Government were youths.
“When we talk about presidency of Igbo extraction, its not just about South East because we have Igbo’s in many states outside the zone, so we have to look inward and support our own wherever they are.
“The South East should begin to works towards next presidential election, again, we need a youth and some of the best ministers in this administration are youths,” he said
