Anambra FA Election: Committee extends sale of forms to June 30
The Anambra FA Electoral Committee for State FA and Local Football Council elections has announced the extension of periods of sale of nomination forms by one week from June 24 to June 30.
Rev. Fr Coach Obinna Dike, Chairman of Publicity Sub Committee said this on Thursday.
Fr. Dike said the decision was reached during a meeting of the electoral committee after the expiration of the initial deadline on Wednesday with a view to enable more interested football stakeholders to participate.
He said there were calls from would-be contestants who were yet to obtain the nomination forms for the extension to enable take part.
“We considered that this extension will enable everybody who wants to take part to key in before we go into the next stage, so it is a in line with fair play,” he said.
Dike said there would no longer be extension after June 30 and that the July 21 election date remain sacrosanct hoping that the lockdown would have elapsed.
Meanwhile, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Anambra Chapter, urged stakeholders in Anambra football to participate in the process and not hesitate to bare their minds where and when necessary.
SWAN in a communiqué signed by Anthony Oji and Chimezie Anaso, Chairman and Secretary, called on Electoral Committee, to discharge their duties with utmost fairness.
According to SWAN, we welcomes the constitution of an election committee for AnSFA, following the expiration of the four year tenure of Ifeanyi Ubah led administration on May 3, 2020.
“We encourage all football stakeholders (ex-players, referees, club owners, sponsors) in the state to take keen interest and participate in the process.
“We urge the election committee to be above board and transparent in the discharge of their duties of giving the football community in Anambra, free, fair and credible elections.
“SWAN views with every seriousness, the exclusion of the association and its members in the information management of the 2020 Anambra FA election process.
“SWAN Anambra chapter remains open to positive collaboration with football and indeed all sports stakeholders in the interest of growth and development of football and athletes in the state,” it stated.
