Anambra Flood: Archbishop Okeke Visits Submerged St Patrick’s Parish In Ogbaru
His Grace, Most Rev.Valerian Okeke, the Catholic Archbishop Of Onitsha Archdiocese on Sunday paid a surprise visit to St Patrick Catholic Church, Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government of Anambra.
Odekpe is one of the communities being ravaged by flood which had submerged farms, homes, schools, churches and farmland in parts of the state.
The Archbishop who undertook the journey got to the church premises in a locally made canoe.
Delivering a Homily, titled “The Just Man Lives By His Faith,” the Archbishop charged people of God to always remain patient in times of difficulties and challenges since the Lord will come to their rescue at a due time with accompanying blessings.
He reminded Christians that the world was not a bed of roses, but that with faith, the faithful will be on the winning side every time.
According to him, the secret of successful life is living by faith, advising that we should always pray for our faith to grow stronger and also teach others how to have faith in God.
Okeke empathised with the Catholic community and Ogbaru LGA in general who are currently being dispaced by flood,
He prayed to God to save the people of the submerged areas, and for the flood to begin to recede and dry up.
NewsMonitor reports that no fewer than 651,000 persons have been displaced from their homes according to the National Emergency Management Agency.
