Anambra Guber: ADC Candidate, John Nwosu Clears N50M Campaign Campaign Hurdle
Mr John Nwosu, candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) has paid the sum of N50 million charged by Anambra Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) as permit fee to allow political parties and candidates to engage in outdoor campaign activities.
TheJohn Nwosu Campaign Organisation were joined by the leadership of ADC in Anambra led the to make the payment at ANSAA office in Awka on Thursday.
ADC is the second political party to make the payment after Young Progressives Party which paid earlier.
It is interesting to note that the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance and its candidate Prof Charles Soludo who made the law are yet to pay the money.
The John Nwosu Campaign Organisation described the situation as a failure on the party of Soludo to lead by example and a tendency to make Anambra State IGR generation punitive.
“The political campaign advertisement levy, even with the best of intentions does not avail candidates a level playing field. It is also meant to abridge free speech by executive fiat.
“If by God’s grace I become the governor, such prohibitive laws will be amended with a view to having fair electoral practices, playing level field and political space that does not confer undue advantage to the incumbent governor or office holder,* he said
Mr Tony Ujubuoñu , the Managing Director of ANSAA and other management staff were on hand to receive the representatives of the John C Nwosu Campaign Organisation and the leadership of ADC led by the Chairman ,Mr Patrick Obianyo to acknowledge the receipt for the payment.
