Anambra Guber Aspirant, Okoli Extols Amechi@ 92, Urges FG To Immortalse Him

Chief Rommy Okoli, frontline aspirant in the Nov. 6 governorship election in Anambra has paid glowing tributes to a foremost nationalist, Chief Mbazulike Amechi who clocked the age of 92.Okoli who is contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) conveyed his message in a Statement made available on Sunday.Amechi, a Zikist was a minister of aviation in the first republic and an indigene of Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra.Okoli (Dara Dike Oyiegwu and Akajiugo Ukpor) said the nationalist popularly known as ‘The Boy is Good” played pivotal role during the struggle for Nigeria’s independence and contributed immensely to nation building.He described Amechi as a model of selfless service to the nation while calling on the Federal Government and Anambra State Government to honour and Immortalise to serve as morale booster to all.According to him, Nigeria and Nigerians have a lot to learn from the foremost nationalist..”It is a very big privilege to still have Chief Mbazulike Amechi around, he is residual of knowledge on what to do to fix Nigeria and never has he shy away from making wonderful and useful suggestions.”The Federal Government should as a matter of urgency and national importance bestow National Honour on the only Nigerian Nationalist alive.”Bestowing a prestigious National Honour on the Nationalist would be a morale booster to the young generations to put in their best in the efforts to build a new Nigeria which everyone would be proud of,” be said. Okoli urged Anambra Government to name one of the legacy projects after Chief Amechi since his contemporaries like Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Dr Alex Ekwueme and Dr Nwafor Orizu have been so honoured.He wished Amechi a blissful birthday prayed that God will continue to grant him, strength, good health and many more years.
