Anambra Guber: Group Flays Umahi Over Anti-Paty, Urges President To Call Him To Order
The flagship political support structure of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Anambra State, Ikemba Front, has condemned in the strongest terms the statement made by the Federal Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, during his courtesy call on the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
Umahi who was in the state to perform the takeoff ceremony for the construction of access road to the second Niger Bridge linking Delta and Anambra States, phase 2B, openly endorsed Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s second term bid by saying that Soludo had no opposition to contend with in the Nov.8 governorship election.
But in a swift reaction, the National Coordinator of Ikemba Front, Chief Arinzechukwu Awogu, berated the Minister for engaging in anti-party, noting that the former Ebonyi State governor spoke from the point of ignorance.
Awogu said Umahi was oblivious of the gains APC has made in Anambra State in recent times.
“Much as we attribute the inglorious comment of the Minister to monumental ignorance about Anambra political environment and the gains of our party in the state, we condemn in the strongest possible terms the statement as spewed by the uninformed Minister.
“It’ is somewhat of a gibberish coming from a supposed partyman, one wonders what sort of point he intends to score with such a self-serving statement,” he said
Awogu accused Engr. Dave Umahi of being part of the clique in the Southeast that did not wish APC to win in Anambra for selfish reasons, so that they will continue to pillage Anambra and share slots meant for the State at the federal level among themselves in the pretense that Anambra State was not with the party at the centre.
“It’s all perfidy and narrow-interest, I challenge the Minister to show the world his result as a sitting governor of a state in the election that produced Mr.
President, he could not deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his state as a serving governor.
“His presidential election result for APC was a disaster, but let an APC government emerge on Nov. 8 2025 and see if Anambra APC will not deliver Mr. President in the 2027 presidential election.
The group said that the Minister was not aware that the party in Anambra State has been rejuvenated and placed on winning ways.
They said Umahi could not say that there was no opposition if he was not oblivious of the grassroots appeal the party now enjoyed courtesy of the commitment of the members of the party in Anambra
“We call on Mr. President to reprimand the Minister for going beyond his briefs and for indulging in anti-party.
“He may also not be aware that Anambra people are very serious in their avowed move to the centre this time around,” he said.
Ikemba Front emphasised that Soludo’s attempt on infrastructure and human capital development which the Minister said had humbled the opposition, was indeed a far cry, and maintained that an APC government in Anambra would achieve far more in less that one year what Prof. Soludo claimed to have achieved in three years.
The group reiterated hat APC would defeat Soludo thoroughly in the coming governorship election as the masses had pitched their tent with the APC in Anambra.
