Anambra Guber: Ifeanyi Ubah’s Political Structure Adopts Ukachukwu As APC Candidate
Ikemba Front, the leading political support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted Dr Nicholas Ukachukwu as its choice candidate for the Nov. 8 governorship election in Anambra.
Ikemba Front, the major support structure of late Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah made the adoption at a general meeting of the group held at its National Secretariat in Awka on Wednesday.
Recall that the APC has scheduled its primary election for the seven cleared candidates including Ukachukwu ahead of the main election for April 5.
Elder Johnny Oraefo, the National Adviser of Ikemba Front who declared the position of group said the conclusion was reached after a painstaking profiling of the aspirants, their antecedents and their capacity to achieve victory at the poll proper.
Oraefo who is also the vice chairman of Ikemba Front Elders Council said the group also considered the zoning arrangement which favours the people of Anambra South Senatorial zone.
The American based elder Statesman described Ukachukwu governorship aspiration as a divine mandate ordained by God to turn the fortune of Anambra state around.
He called on APC faithful and the delegates in particular to ensure they cast their vote and deliver Ukachukwu as the candidate of the party as he was the best option for an assured victory for the national ruling party in Anambra come November.
On his part, Chief Arinzechukwu Awogu, the National Coordinator of Ikemba Front said the support group was determined to uphold the principles of its leader, Late Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah and achieve his political ideal of equity, fairness and egalitarianism.
Awogu said the choice of Ukachukwu was in line with the Ifeanyi Ubah’s desire that power should remain in Anambra South in the next dispensation so that other zones would take their turns without unnecessary bickering.
He said Ukachukwu had demonstrated unassailable leadership qualities in private and public life as a businessman and lawmaker respectively.
“Dr Nicholas Ukachukwu possesses sterling qualities which placed him head and shoulders above other aspirants even though others are good in their own rights.
“Ukachukwu is the best option for APC and best governorship candidate for Anambra people in the Nov. 8 election.
“Ikemba Front recognises the importance of this election for the people of this state and our great party and that is why we are presenting him as the people’s choice in the April 5 primary election,” he said.
Also speaking, His Excellency, Chief Sir Abole Okoye Agu (Odejinjin na Awka), a former deputy governor of Anambra said that Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu was the best choice for Anambra voters, and called on APC not to loss Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu.
Others who spoke including Bishop Emeka Michael Nwankpa of Chapel of Faith Bible Assembly International, urged the party to consider giving its ticket to Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu so as to guarantee victory for the party in the November 8, governorship election.
The adoption of Ukachukwu was unanimously endorsed by no fewer than 500 members of Ikemba Front present at the event.
Ikemba Front also conferred recognition to deserving personalities who had helped to sustain the movement for their contributions.
These were Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, Chief Linus Ezenkwu (Nkwubuego), Amede Philip-Deane, Dr Tony Anukwu (Okwanka Aguleri), Dr Ejike Ezendu and Chief Ugochukwu Odekwa (Ikenga Abacha).
