Anambra Guber: Nwosu Urges INEC To Void April 5 LP Congress, Placeholder Candidate
Mr John Nwosu, a governorship aspirant in the platform of the Labour Party has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise the primary election conducted on April 10 as the valid exercise.
Nwosu, who spoke to journalists in Ihiala on Tuesday said the factional primary election conducted on April 5 should be discountenanced following the Supreme Court ruling of April 4 which ousted the Julius Abure led leadership.
He said he had already made an appeal before Sen. Nenadi Usman led Caretaker Committee seeking the voidence of placeholder who produced at the April 10 congress which he participated in.
According to him, once the Easter holidays are over, they will, indeed, make a pronouncement
“We know who the leaders of LP are, it ts now up to INEC to do the needful for the process to continue.
“The primary of April 5 is null and void and the primary of April 10 should be upheld, except of course that the issue of a placeholder is extraneous to the established process.
“I am a firm believer in due process and rule of law, so I remain in the race for the candidacy and in the fullness of time there will be clarity and vindication,” he said.
Nwosu said he was hopeful of emerging the eventual candidate of the LP ahead of Nov. 8 governorship election while expressing confidence that the party leadership would resolve all knotty issues without allowing for court action..
“ I hope it does not come to that. But if push comes to shove, I am ready to exhaust all remedies.
*I never discuss personalities. I focus on issues. I intend to be on the LP ballot for the Nov. 8 2025, Anambra governorship election,” he said.
