Anambra Head of Service Warns Against Complacency Among Civil Servants
The newly sworn in Head of Service in Anambra, Mrs Ngozi Iwouno has urged civil servants in Anambra to live up to their responsibilities seriously.
Iwouno who made this call in a Statement in Awka said defaulters would be sanctioned in line with extant rules.
She warned that no worker should stay away from their duty posts or report late to work without authorisation as the Civil service rule would be invoked on offenders where necessary. .
Iwouno directed workers to desist from lateness and unauthorised absence from duty going forward.
“This behaviour is also inconsistent with the provisions of the Public Service Rules (2021) which frowns at misconduct including habitual lateness to work.
“It also provides that an officer who, without acceptable excuse, fails to resume duty on the approved date shall be regarded as absent without leave and without pay.
“Absence without leave is further classified as a serious disciplinary offence under the chapter 10 of the public rules,” she said.
Iwuno advised workers to make use of attendance registers provided in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies warning that sales of items within the work space was prohibited.
According to her, any officer found wanting will be dealt with in accordance with the relevant provisions of the public service rules.
