Anambra LP Hails High Court Sack Of Abure, Congratulates Sen. Usman
The Labour Party in Anambra has applauded that recognition of the Sen. Nenadi Usman led-National Caretaker Committee as the valid leadership of the petty by a Federal High Court.
Mr Peter Okoye, Chairman, Labour Party in Anambra in a congratulatory message made available in Awka on Wednesday described the judgment as historic.
Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise the Usman led Committee as the valid representatives of LP pending a national convention,
Okoye said the judgment, which relied on the April 4 decision of the Supreme Court, was a victory for constitutionalism, internal democracy, and the rule of law in political party administration.
He said it had decisively and conclusively resolved all leadership disputes.
According to him, the court affirmed that the tenure of the former national chairman, Julius Abure, had expired and rightly dismissed claims that the matter was non-justiciable.
“Justice Lifu’s ruling confirms that the Caretaker Committee is lawful and necessary, arising directly from the Supreme Court’s pronouncements and resolutions of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
“The Anambra Chapter regards this judgment as a watershed moment and a reaffirmation of the party’s commitment to justice, order, and progressive ideals,” he said.
Okoye said the judgment was a call to unity, organisation, and collective advancement in service of Nigerians who saw LP as a vehicle for national renewal.
The chairman called on all party members in Anambra to remain steadfast and focused as the storms were behind us.
“The future is bright, with unity and disciplined mobilisation, the party is well positioned for decisive victories in Anambra and beyond.
“Congratulations to Sen. Nenadi Usman and to the national leadership of the Labour Party,” he said.
