Anambra PDP Warns Agents Of Distabilisation, Confident Of Victory At S’Court
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anambra Chapter has condemned activities of some members of the party who are seeking to destabilise the party through the formation of illegal and unconstitutional structures.
The party issued the warning in a communiqué issued after the expanded State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting at the party State Secretariat in Awka on Monday.
The communiqué was signed by Mr Chidi Chidebe and Chief Ebere Onunkwo, PDP chairman and secretary respectively in Anambra.
It expressed concern over recent developments within the Party at the national level particularly the judgment of the Court of Appeal on the national convention held in Ibadan.
It reaffirmed that the current SEC under Chidebe which was elected at the October 2024 Congress remained valid and recognised in accordance with the party constitution.
“While expressing concern over the implications of the judgment, we reaffirm our respect for the rule of law and confidence in the apex court to deliver justice in the interest of democracy.
“SEC strongly condemned the activities of some individuals and groups seeking to destabilise the Party in Anambra through the formation of illegal and unconstitutional structures, including the purported ‘caretaker committee’,” it said.
The PDP SEC said it was committed to a genuine reconciliation and called on all aggrieved members to sheath their swords and return to the fold adding that the party was open to dialogue and inclusive engagement
It called on the PDP Board of Trustees and other critical organs, to provide clear direction towards resolving the current challenges facing the Party.
“The SEC commends members across the state for their enthusiasm in the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
“We direct all Ward and local government structures to intensify mobilisation efforts to ensure maximum participation and consolidation of the party’s grassroots strength.
“We urge members to remain focused, organised, and prepared as the Party continues to reposition itself for the forthcoming political engagements, including the 2027 general elections.
“SEC calls for strict adherence to Party discipline and warns against acts of indiscipline and anti-party activities,” it said.
The party in Anambra said it was fully committed to participating in all future electoral processes.
