Anambra Police Command Holds Carol, Reassures Residents Of Safety
The spirit of Christmas came alive Tuesday night in Awka with a Carol of Nine Lessons and End of Year Party organised by CP Ikioye Orutugu, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra
The Carol of 9-Lessons and End of Year Party which was the first of its kind in the state offered the audience a rare moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to celebrating the birth of Lord Jesus Christ and also to prepare for the year ahead.
The theme of the event which held at Vertex View Hotel Hall Nibo was “Policing: A Shared Responsibility”
Management staff and personnel of the Command led by CP Ikioye stakeholders in the security sector including the Department of State Services, and guests in an atmosphere of celebration, reflection, and appreciation.
Orutugu who spoke after the entertaining and soul lifting night used the opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the command to improved security, professionalism, and sustained partnership with stakeholders.
He said Christmas reminded the Christian world of the enduring values of love, peace, sacrifice, and goodwill to all while promising to intensify efforts toward ensuring the safety of lives and property across Anambra in the coming year.
He said security could be achieved by the Police alone as it required the collective efforts of government, security agencies, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious bodies, youth groups, the media, and every law-abiding citizen.
He commended the intelligence-led policing strategy, joint operations, community engagement, and proactive patrols adding that the achievements would not have been possible without trust of Anambra people.
“I wish to sincerely appreciate the Government and good people of Anambra, our sister security agencies, Anambra Police Management Team, my Area Commanders, my Divisional Police Officers, Tactical teams.
“I also thank the operatives of other sister agencies as well as those in the Joint Security Task Force, and most importantly the Operatives of Agunachemba.
“It is unity we forge a fortress throughout the year 2025 against the common enemy of the State.
“Despite the challenges we faced, the Command remained resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property.
Ikioye reassured residents and visitors that the Anambra Police Command in collaboration with sister security agencies, has intensified patrols and surveillance across the state.
He said strategic locations, worship centres, markets, highways, and recreational areas were being adequately covered to ensure a peaceful celebration.
The CP accorded special recognitions to some persons including Insp. Okoma Ewa, Corporal Chawalamoke Godsfavour and Constable Emekwisore Ifeanyi for their exceptional display of courage, swift response and professionalism in the line of duty.
Others were CSP Ayuba Ahmadu, Commander, Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugu-Ukwu, who was the Best Crime Fighter of the Year and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) award .
Chief Ken Emeakayi, the Commander of the Agụnachmba Vigilante Group also received outstanding collaboration and support while Mr Ikenna Ofodeme the majority leader of Anambra State House of Assembly was honoured as the Best Supportive Stakeholder.
Mr Ambrose Obinna Onuzulike received an award for selfless service and consistent support to the Police while SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra Command was also received NANS Senate best student friendly PPRO.
